The hype continues to build: 365’s upcoming debut December 23, 2010

Some bubbling hype seems to have been building over the past few months over an upcoming Viet boy band, “365”. Their website is displaying a countdown to Thursday, December 6 at 8PM Eastern Time (or Friday, December 7 at 8PM, UTC+07 in Vietnam) – I wonder what will be revealed that day??

Sundance, an album by Arlene Estrella, a female Filipino vocalist, is an admirable advance in blending Vietnamese and Jazz music. It showcases the artist’s take on one of the most beloved modern song writers in Viet Nam: Duong Thu. Although Arlene’s soulful voice was able to spark interests from familiar tunes, the authenticity of the songs was lost in translation. The album is nevertheless a great stride in breaking through the barrier of languages. (more…)
